Melbourne young gun Clayton Oliver is a late omission from the Dees’ side to take on Fremantle on Saturday afternoon.

The club has cited a chance of sunlight and mild UV rays as the reason for Oliver’s withdrawal, saying they couldn’t take any risk for a player with such severe redheadedness.

“We’re not taking any precaution,” the club said.

“We consider it extremely dangerous for someone like Clayton to be outside or in the presence of sunlight, so we can’t take the risk.”

Oliver has started the season with a bang, averaging 33 disposals a game — the most at Melbourne.

“Clayton has played two games at Etihad this season and once at the MCG under a fairly thick cloud cover, so these conditions are totally out of his comfort zone.

“Sorry, Clarry.”

The Demons have not yet announced Oliver’s replacement.
